Welcome to my December Daily 2020 Workshop!
I hope you are excited to get started creating your own December Daily pages for this year. This has been quite a journey to create for you, from designing the pages to filming and editing, and finally posting this workshop. I sincerely hope you have fun in the process, laugh along as we create these pages, and know that you will always have a friend (me) to keep you company!
There is almost four hours of video instruction for you, so make sure you have the time set aside, or take it in steps. I have broken the workshop into modules to make things easier for you!
So let’s get started with the supplies list. As always, you can substitute products and tools, but this is a list of what I will be using during the workshop:
Creative Memories Multi-Pocket pages (we will use 3)
1 or 2 packs of 4x6 peek-a-boo pockets (we will use 1 pack, you can always add more)
Christmas Spirit Paper pack
Christmas Spirit Mat Pack
Christmas Spirit Embellishments
Oh Joy! Open House Embellishments (if you are my Creative Memories customer and purchase this class, I will send you a pack for free!)
Cardstock in Crimson (2 sheets), Scarlet (1 sheet), & Dark Green (2 sheets)
White ruled paper pack (we will use 2 sheets)
White Script ABC’s (you will also need another pack for “2020” unless you have white ABC’s)
Reindeer punch (optional)
Sleigh punch (optional)
Treeline border punch (optional)
Icicle border maker cartridge (optional)
Stocking border maker cartridge (optional)
Spiky evergreen border maker cartridge (optional)
Red & Green pens
12” trimmer (I will also use the deckle blade, and scoring blade)
Repositionable adhesive (also good to have a refill)
Regular adhesive
Micro-point scissors
red & white baking twine
standard hole punch
exacto knife & ruler
Now let’s take a tour of the pages you will create, go over the supplies list to be sure to have everything you need, and select what pieces* we will use from the collection.
* please note: In the video you will see the “North Pole” embellishment in my pile, however, we will not be using that embellishment for this project.
Module 1 - Getting started:
tour of the project and the supplies you will need
Now that you have everything you need handy, let’s move on and get our cutting done! You will find this step makes all the building so much more fun. So grab your tools and follow along as we get everything prepped and cut.
Module 2 - Cutting and Prep:
Nice! Now doesn’t that feel good? You may want to take a couple of minutes to organize your supplies into piles, have a stack of your cardstock, a stack of cut journal boxes, a stack of cut apart numbers, etc. This will make it easier to grab what you need as we build. I have divided this next part into 3 modules, one for each double-sided page we are completing.
Module 3 - Page 1
Days 1- 11
Module 4 - Page 2
Days 12- 23
Module 5 - Page 3
Days 24-31
The final touch
As promised, I have one final step to complete your pages. In order to add the strips to the sides of your pocket pages, please use the following guidelines.
Using a self-healing mat, a SHARP exacto (or similar blade) and a straight edge, make a small cut at the top of the back side of your pocket page. BE CAREFUL not to cut all the way through (although it is OK if you do). It may be easier to apply gentle pressure a few times than to press too hard. Gently slide the blade in to see if the plastic has been cut through.
Next, cut a strip of dark green cardstock (or paper of your choice) using the deckle blade (as shown) or a straight blade. Adjust the size of the strip so that it slides easily in the plastic slot. It should measure around 1/2” to 5/8”
Repeat the cutting for all strips, then gently slide the strips into the plastic slots.
And now your project is DONE and these finishing touches add the extra flair to complete your pages.
OK, are we doing the happy dance yet? You did it! YAAAAY - and now the fun part, adding all your daily memories as you go through this December. Remember this design is flexible! If you need to add more photos or journalling, just grab another set of peek a boo pockets and add them to your pages. We have plenty of “extras” to make it all work, and you can have fun creating some designs of your own to finish off the collection.
Thank you for joining me, and as always I hope you have enjoyed taking time to craft some JOY!
hugs,
